We discovered the existence of particular places, on some remote islands in the Pacific, called castaway depots.
These depots, built to ease the survival of the unfortunate crews who landed these desolate places,
were instituted by New Zealand's government between XIX and XX century.
The shelters were provided with food rations like biscuits, canned meat, kitchen tools,
but also matches, thread and needle, rifles, ammunitions, fishing rod and hooks, cotton shirts, pants, waterproofs boots.
It is estimated that, in at least five cases of shipwreck between 1887 and 1908,
castaway depots saved the sailors from certain death.
If you had to get your castaway depot ready, what would you put in it?
